LG Electronics 32LF5600 Review

So what makes the 32LF5600 better than others and what are its limitations? Read on to find out more about its features.

Picture/Video features

The 1080p resolution and 60Hz refresh rate of this 32-inch screen paired with Motion Clarity Index of 120, will produce breathtaking images that are sharp, bright and easy on the eyes. Fast action sequences such as sports or video games are handled with ease seamlessly with no noticeable blur. The color payoff is excellent, and the decent levels of black and white assure a perfect HD picture every time. You will have a great experience watching HD and Blu-Ray movies on this set. Of course, one shouldn’t expect this to be on par with larger 4K TV sets, but compared to its competition, the picture quality is above average for a screen of this size.

This HDTV also has a LED backlighting which distributes the brightness evenly according to room condition, making it easy on the eyes. The menu layout is basic and easy to use, but as always LG tried to amp it up by adding calibration controls and other features such as white balance controls, a gamma selector and Color Management System (CMS). Perfectionists will enjoy picture settings, which include 6 aspect ratio modes and 7 picture modes (Standard, APS, Vivid, Cinema, Game, Expert1 and Expert2) that allow the user to customize and really control the on-screen images; and the presence of advanced technology like Triple XD Engine maintains optimal performance. The only thing missing is 3D functionality.

For a television of this size and price range, the presence of a built-in V-chip is unique. Channels can be sifted and blocked according to the content and ratings of programs, making parental guidance easier. Another noteworthy feature is Screen Share, with simplified image mirroring and smart sharing features. In terms of image quality, the LF5600 still has drawbacks which were discovered on its predecessors. While the LG IPS panel delivers great color accuracy in bright rooms, due to its contrast and black levels, this model isn’t the best in dark or more demanding lighting environments.

Audio Features

Equipped with a 20W speaker and Clear Voice Technology, the sound framework is splendid for small rooms and spaces. It comprises of 5 sound modes, Dolby digital decoder and a 2-channel speaker system which altogether produces a pure form of digital surround sound.

Hardware Features

A major plus point for this LED TV is that it is Energy Star Qualified. This mean that this product is verified and approved in accordance with the energy standards set by the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Agency. This means that compared to other units, this TV consumes around 30 percent less energy.

The design of the 32LF5600 is quite attractive with its measurements of 30.5 x 18.9 x 11.4 inches, which is perfect for bedrooms or office spaces. The super thin bezel surrounding the screen gives that borderless and edgeless feel which brings you closer to the fast camera action on screen. 2 HDMI inputs and USB ports, 1 Component Video input, and 1 each of Audio output and RF Antenna input are present on this TV. The HDMI ports will let you enjoy outstanding picture quality and great digital sound with just one cable. USB devices, cameras and other external storages work flawlessly as well.

Users have used this TV as an external laptop monitor, and reported excellent performance. Reviewers also really like how the 32LF5600 is an easy plug-and-play; setup is as simple as taking the product out of the box and simply plugging it in with default factory settings. Of course, easy customization options and fine tuning setup can always be done if the default settings are not according to your liking. The HDTV weighs 30 pounds and includes a stand along with a user manual in the box. A 1 year warranty period is guaranteed for both the components and labor.

The Verdict

LG 32LF5600 32 inches LED TV boasts of Full HD 1080p resolution. Compared to similar sets, it does have better picture quality and with its 60Hz refresh rate and MCI 120, watching fast action motion movies is an absolute treat for the eyes. The TV is ideal for small rooms or areas like the kitchen or office, but also, due to the Triple XD Engine, this is also perfect to use as a gaming monitor. Wide viewing angles and a stunning color palette is present, and most media will appear at its best – as long as it’s being viewed in a bright surrounding.

This is the biggest flaw of the LF5600; it’s limited viewing flexibility. If you want to turn off the lights to have a theatre like experience, you will be slightly disappointed by this model’s shadow levels, which is more luminous than preferred. This is especially prominent if you are used to intense black levels. It’s not too bad, but other competitive models function better in more varied viewing conditions.

All things considered, the 32LF5600 is one of the best choices for its category. Being a budget TV, it sure does offer a lot of tweaks and features for picture perfectionists and performs as well as any large television.
